What Is Game of Love?
Seven Tools for the Journey from Single to Married
You’re smart. You love God. You’re doing all the right things—going to Mass, staying open, putting yourself out there. And yet... here you are. Still single. Still searching. Still wondering if something’s wrong with you.
Or maybe you’re in a relationship. You’ve found someone good, someone faithful. But now you’re asking different questions: Is this the one? Are we ready? How do we know if God is calling us to marriage?
I get it. Both Mike and I failed at marriage in our twenties. We didn’t include God, we weren’t formed well, and we ignored the wisdom of those who loved us. We thought love alone would be enough.
It wasn’t.
That’s why we built Game of Love.
The Problem No One’s Talking About
Here’s what I’ve learned after 15 years of ministry: most Catholics aren’t struggling to find someone. They’re struggling because they haven’t done the interior work that prepares them for the person God has in mind.
The Catechism says it plainly: “So that the ‘I do’ of the spouses may be a free and responsible act... preparation for marriage is of prime importance” (CCC 1632).
Not preparation for the wedding. Preparation for the marriage.
But where do you actually get that preparation? A weekend retreat six months before you walk down the aisle? Too little, too late.
A Different Approach
Game of Love is the formation platform we wish existed when we were dating. It meets you wherever you are—whether you’re single and struggling, dating and discerning, or preparing for engagement—and gives you the tools to grow in virtue, self-knowledge, and relational wisdom.
We’ve built seven tools, each designed for a specific stage of your journey:
For Singles: Prepare
AdamEve Matrix — Start here. In two minutes, assess yourself (or someone you’re dating) across eight areas of human formation, each mapped to the Cardinal Virtues. It’s free, instant, and surprisingly revealing. Because you can’t give what you don’t possess.
Know Thyself Assessment — St. Teresa of Ávila said it best: “Know thyself.” This deep-dive integrates Temperament, Love Languages, and Attachment Styles to reveal your personality, your patterns, and the wounds that might be keeping you stuck. Self-knowledge isn’t navel-gazing—it’s the foundation of self-gift.
Ready for Love Inventory — Are you actually ready for marriage, or just ready to date? This comprehensive assessment evaluates your emotional, spiritual, and relational preparedness. Take it before you start dating seriously, not after.
For Those Dating: Discern
My Date Tracker — That anxious feeling after a date—was that a red flag or am I overthinking? —finally has an answer. Regular check-ins help you track patterns, evaluate virtue alignment, and receive personalized guidance. Discern with wisdom, not just feelings.
Grow in Love Quest — Daily formation rooted in Scripture, the Catechism, and Theology of the Body. For centuries, the Church has preserved God’s wisdom on love. Grow connects you to that source through gamified quizzes and practical application. This is the ongoing spiritual muscle-building every relationship needs.
For Couples Considering Engagement: Decide
GIFT Assessment — When you’re getting serious, “I love you” isn’t enough. Both partners complete this comprehensive evaluation of faith, communication, family planning, and more. Then you review your alignment together. It’s not a compatibility test—it’s a discernment tool grounded in what the Church actually teaches about marriage.
Love Acts Journal — St. John Paul II wrote that our bodies have “the capacity of expressing love, that love in which the person becomes a gift.” This tool helps you track daily acts of love—small and large—and see your relationship as an opportunity for self-gift, not just fulfillment.
Why This Matters
Marriage isn’t just about finding the right person. It’s about becoming the right person. As the Church teaches, the matrimonial covenant is “ordered toward the good of the spouses” (CCC 1601)—which means your growth matters. Your healing matters. Your formation matters.
And if you’re in a committed dating relationship, discernment isn’t passive. It’s active. It requires honesty about where you are, clarity about where you’re going, and tools to help you get there together.
Game of Love doesn’t replace spiritual direction or professional counseling. But it fills a gap that’s been missing in Catholic relationship formation: a daily companion, grounded in Church teaching, that meets you where you are.
Practical Katie’s Insights
Here’s the truth: whether you’re single, dating, or discerning engagement, you’re not behind. You’re preparing. And that preparation isn’t wasted time—it’s sacred time.
Your next step: Take the AdamEve Matrix. It’s free, it takes two minutes, and it will give you immediate clarity on where you stand. No account required. Just honest self-assessment.
Then, if you want to go deeper, create an account and start building the foundation for the love you’ve been praying for.
You’ve got this. And God’s got you.
Game of Love: Seven tools. One journey. Infinite growth.
